" Why should we have Christian schools?"

10th – 12th November 2023 in Prague

Dear friends,

We are happy to invite you for this year’s meeting of the Association of Friends (Spolek) of the Protestant Theological Faculty of Charles University. It will take place in Prague on November 10 – 12, 2023.

The theme of our meeting is about Christian education and Christian (church) schools. In a more and more secular societal environment the existence and the raison d'être of institutions for education with a Christian identity are less evident. Why do Christian schools exist? What do they want to achieve in a secular society? What is their strategy to convince the broader public of the need of their existence? What do they expect from the state and what does the state expect from them? The title of our meeting therefore is

Why should we have Christian schools?

We are working to bring some experts in this field from Germany, Norway and the Czech Republic to our conference who will give us some input into the matter.

Since the faculty is undergoing a major renovation, our meeting will take place somewhere else. We're still in the process of securing a location. We will, of course, send to all registered participants information about the venue, confirmation of accommodation reservations if requested, and a preliminary program.

We have made reservations for accommodation in the hotel KRYSTAL. The accommodation costs (including breakfast), range between 1700 CZK /per night (double room) and 1450 CZK /per night (single room). The Spolek will contribute toward 50% of these costs.

We kindly ask you to inform us about your participation before September 30, 2023 either by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or via postal mail to:
