Dear friends,
We are happy to invite you for this year’s meeting of the Association of Friends (Spolek) of the Protestant Theological Faculty of Charles University. It will take place in Prague from
8th to 10th November 2024.
This year we will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Spolek, hurrah! Whether you have been a member of Spolek since the beginning, joined in the last decade, or if you currently study at PTF, feel free to join our common festivities. We might not have all of your recent contact information, so please also forward this invite to your study friends from the times you were here in Prague! We would love to celebrate and relive the “good old times” with as many friends as possible.
The working title of our meeting is Losing the Call. We will be focusing on the professions in the theological field (teachers, diaconia workers and pastors) where the calling has been strong but due to exhaustion and burn-out people have been taking long leaves or changing their careers completely. We will share stories in the form of panel discussion and include the theme throughout the weekend. Of course we will offer the basic programme as every year, getting to know each other on Friday with some refreshments, seminar day with field trip on Saturday and tips for local church services for Sunday.
We are working on bringing to our meeting some experts to contribute in this field from the Czech Republic and internationally. Information about accommodation and how to register for our meeting will arrive later. But go ahead and confirm your holidays already at work for Spolek weekend. If you wish to organize your travels already as well, it is good to know that we will start around 17:00 on Friday and on Sunday there is no mandatory activity for everyone.
We have made reservations for accommodation in the hotel KRYSTAL, address: Chosé Martího 2/407, Prague 6, . The accommodation costs (including breakfast):
- single room 700 CZK (28 EUR)/per night
- double room 450 CZK (18 EUR) /per night/ per person.
The original prices of the accommodation are higher but the Spolek will cover 50% of these expenses.You can pay your accommodation in cash (in CZK) during the Spolek meeting at the Faculty or you can send your payment to the Spolek bank account (details of the bank account see at the end of this letter).

We would also like to remind those of you who are members of our association / would like to become a member, not to forget to pay your membership fee.
The minimum is 250 CZK (11 EUR) /year, but you can of course contribute more.
If not for these contributions, we would not be able to organize our annual conferences. In case you participate at this year’s conference, you can pay your membership fee in cash in Prague.
